This international scientific conference aims to bring together a well-balanced international group of prominent economists, researchers and practitioners to debate recent theoretical advances in the emerging field of tourism economics. By focusing on the theme of theoretical advances on tourism economics and management, the conference will provide an opportunity for gathering, analysing, and debating state-of-the-art academic research on this recent field of economic science. As a main objective of this conference there is also the increasing need to enhance the on going process of bringing together the academic world and the companies in the marketplace in a joint effort to produce a common state of mind, all with a view to optimising the huge potential of the rapidly growing tourism sector to create economic wealth.
Having in mind that the specific characteristics of tourism goods often require a non-standardized treatment from economic science, frequently using singular instruments from other areas of knowledge, the conference intends to make a further contribution to systematize the theoretical foundations of the emerging subject of tourism economics and, simultaneously, it also intends to provide up to date information on the evolution of tourism destinations and products, namely on a case study basis. By doing so, the conference will provide for a better understanding of the rapidly growing tourism market worldwide, namely among both academic researchers and private investors that recognise qualified information as a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Overall, this conference will showcase the impact of academic research on tourism economics by addressing broad thematic ideas that are of high public interest, and that will capture the attention of a large audience including students, teachers, policy-makers, private investors and the broader community.
The Organising Committee welcomes theoretical as well as empirical contributions within the broad theme of theoretical advances in tourism economics and management. Any research work empirically or case-study oriented is also welcome if supported by a strong theoretical background.
Tourism Demand and Supply, The Economic Impact of Tourism, Environmental Issues in Tourism, Tourism Marketing and Management Issues, Economic Sustainability and Tourism, Tourism and International Trade, Innovation and Competitiveness in Tourism, Tourism Policies and Development, The Economic History of Tourism, The Politics of Tourism. Any research work specifically oriented to other areas of the economic analysis of tourism might be also accepted for presentation since considered of scientific relevance for the field in question through the blind refereeing process upheld.
